With great enthusiasm for impact bonds around the world and a desperate need to consolidate learning, the Government Outcomes Lab is excited to launch a global knowledge platform for impact bonds. This aims to be the ‘go to’ place for learning on impact bonds around the world.

Through close work with our partners, Ecorys, Social Finance, the Bertha Centre for Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship and MAZE, we have developed an extensive range of resources pulling together what is known about this emerging tool. This is aimed at those who want to design, develop and deliver an impact bond that can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It is also aimed at those researching the tool and reflecting on its effectiveness compared to other approaches. This work is funded by the UBS Optimus Foundation and the Department for International Development (DFID).

What’s on the platform?

After consulting over 100 stakeholders, we developed a clear understanding of what was wanted from this platform. Based on this, we have added, updated and refreshed many features on our site. Here’s a summary:

  • cutting edge research and evidence around impact bonds and the latest data on every impact bond around the world;
  • introductory guides so you can get to grips on the basics around impact bonds;
  • technical guides so you can understand the more complex aspects of impact bonds in a simple and accessible way;
  • a directory where you can connect to other practitioners in the space and build networks across the world.

Keep a look out for new features coming soon, including a tailored search tool based on your role and specific needs, as well as an interactive impact bond lifecycle.

Get involved

We invite you to join the conversation, share expertise from your region and shape the future of the knowledge platform. The platform was created because of the value in pooling knowledge and learning from experience, as well as engaging with others who are working on similar projects. The platform can be a springboard to allow you to develop your own community of practice.
